1.   What Does The management Meanings ?


Terminological management as James Stoner  said :
 "management is planning process, organizing, guidance and effort observation membered organisational and another organisational resource purposes that reach organization aim already established”
Management is the process of designing and maintaining an environment in which individuals, working together in groups, efficiently accomplish selected goals1.
In other words, “Management is the process of planning, organizing, leading, and controlling the efforts of organization members and of using all other organizational resources to achieve stated organizational goals”2.
Management focuses on the entire organization from both a short and a long-term perspective. Management aims to increase the effectiveness of organizations. It's about making the most of the resources entrusted to you, and making sure the expectations of customers, employees and shareholders are met.
Traditionally, management includes the following:
  • planning
  • organizing
  • leading
  • controlling
More specifically, management is responsible for the primary activities of the firm; those being inbound logistics, operations, outbound logistics, marketing and sales, and service.
Management is also responsible for the support activities of infrastructure (accounting, finance, strategic planning), human resource management (recruiting, training and development, compensation management), technology development (product and process improvement), and procurement (material acquisition).
Management crosses cultural boundaries as most organizations of significant size operate internationally. Primary and support activities are performed in an international context.

2.   Do you need management?

Yes of course I really, really need management literate , because it’s also needed for solve roblems, not only for my job , my work environment but also for my daily  activities ,so that all of my activities can  be finished , arrangged systematically.
Example for the littlest thing in my life , I really need management , I need to arrange my schedule by the time . what time I must sleep ?
 what time I must wake up ?
what time I must take a bath ?
what time I must go to campus ?
what time I must have meal ?
these are kind of easly management.




3.   What Do You Think About Management ?

When we learn about management ,therefor we will find that management meanings , so i think management  meanings are ,
1.Management is a procces which goals and purposes are being attended, and watched by the leader.Then, management is passion, dream, and act to be made and reached come true , and it is being attended as well as together to get our own goals.
2.management is part of colectivity of human as resources
3.Management is a part of arts and also knowledge
4. Management is also responsible for the support activities of infrastructure  kind of accounting, finance, strategic planning, etc.
5. Management involves the activities to control and monitor the people in an organization to achieve the desired goals of the organization. The roles of management include planning, organizing, staffing, directing and monitoring the employees
6. Management is the prosess of getting activities complete efficiently and effectively with and throgh other people





4.    What Does The Effective and efficient meanings ?

"Efficient" is defined as working without waste or using a minimum of time, effort and expense. But, the definition is silent about the goals of the operation. A person can be very efficient at what they are doing but still not get to where they want to be because they aren't doing the right things. That's where "effective" comes in.
"Effective" means "having the desired result". Once the desired overall result is defined, the tasks leading to the result can be isolated and these tasks can then be completed efficiently. While this seems obvious, actual execution of tasks in many companies doesn't follow this simple principle.




5.   If you are a manager or a leader , please Explain about Your management and  your leadership that you apply to your company and your employee ?


And now, Let's talk about management's problem and how to solve its problem efeciently and effectively !!!


I am as a manager( Executive Housekeeper) Hotel, i have 200 guest rooms , 7 trolleys , and 10 room attendants . 

and there will be 200 new guests arrival group from BANK INDONESIA due to check in for a week, and then 
there will be 180  new guests arrival group from STP SAHID due to check in for a week , and 20 expected arrival VIP guests due to check in for a week at the same week , and 200  new guests arrival group from UNIVERSITAS INDONESIA for 2 weeks .
Nowdays , my hotel is getting busy estimate for a month and almost are GROUP GUESTS and every guests are easily come and easily go in my hotel so i as a manager really need to manage the times , my employees, my expense costs, and the most important is my employee’s well being . and i must control them , manage them , and lead them as well as my management.
Because of nowdays is the busy time, my employees always take 10 hours work times , but ussually they only take 8 hours for work time , they also getting busy and crazy to my consist of management.


Oneday , my employees complained due to their own time, they complained due to my management , they complained due to my leadership , they complained due to their own leave days , the complained due to their off days , they complained due to their own salary , and also they complained due to their exhaustion.

I am as the manager worried enough due to their complaint and grumble .
I need to take step for them .

So i decided to :

1st : i will take care my employees , i will make full schedule and i will give only one off day for them a week ,during to the hotel full occupancy , because i already think , and estimate it only takes a month of full occupancy  after a difficult month pass i will give each my employess their own rights, to have time for leave days and  to have off days . and also i will ask some public area attendants to help room attendant due to stripping rubbish in the rooms ,  stripping linens due to checked out rooms during hotel full accupancy , so that help room attendant upon cleaning the rooms , this way make room attendant work easier , work faster , and work quickly.

2nd : i will take care my employees : they have been worked for 10 hours everydays, and also one day off day a week .
but actually they only have 8 hours work times everyday and 2 off days every week , Because of it.  i also will give them get extra salary , more salary to change and to pay their 2 hours pass everydays . i will pay for 1 day for their replacement schedule . and i also will give them first class letters (word) or kind of Quotes for appreciating ,for celebrating , for value , for thanks giving , of their hard work for a difficult days during hotel full occupancy.

3rd : i will take care my employess : i will give them supplement and milk for their healthy every day during hotel full occupancy .

4th : i will take care my guests : i already gave my employees their well-being and prosperity during to the hotel full occupancy , i will make sure that my employee work hardly , working well , working genuinely , and peacefully due to my management and leadership . i will make sure that they will give the best services or services excellent due to our guests . i will make sure that they clean rooms everyday without any pass left behind of cleaning rooms.

5th : i will save the costs : because nowdays are fully occupancy . i will ask all of my employees to provide what guest needs as well as their room rates , because almost of my guests are group guest , i will ask my employees to give the best service , services exellent .but actually for the amenities , for the utilities , for the magazine , newspaper does not be setted up in the room , i will decrease requirement  each needs of my guests, and i will stock many things from the guest rooms during hotel full occupancy . and if the guest ask for requirement and needs of them to the room attendant or order taker (by phone ) therefore , i wouldn’t mind to give what they need . (as well as guest requests).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF MANAGER

TOP MANAGEMENT
       
      The highest ranking executives  with titles such as chairman/chairwoman, chief executive officer, managing director, president, executive directors, executive vice-presidents, etc.responsible for the entire enterprise.
Top management translates the policy (formulated by the board-of-directors) into goals, objectives, and strategies, and projects a shared-vision of the future. It makes decisions that affect everyone in the organization, and is held entirely responsible for the success or failure of the enterprise.

MIDDLE MANAGEMENT

        Comprises of managers who head specific departments (such as accounting, marketing, production) or business units, or who serve as project managers in flat organizations. Middle managers are responsible for implementing the top management's policies and plans and typically have two management levels below them. Usually among the first to be slashed in the 'resizing' of a firm, middle management constitutes the thickest layer of managers in a traditional (tall pyramid shaped) organization.

FIRST LINE (LOWER) MANAGEMENT
     
First line manager program is an educational and leadership of management of the level of bleachers in the first place. It aims to improve the skills of management and leadership in the first line in the Bank. This program is designed to withstand a change of attitude of the supervisor of the self-management for team management.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF ROOMBOY

-      Implement the following  Cleanliness of  Floor, keep the cleanliness of every rooms  
-      Implement the Following  cleanliness of Trolley, Carry Caddy, pantry , etc
-      Implement  the cleanliness of each corridors, floor
-      Make up the rooms
-      Close turn down
-      Complete the Following of Guest’s  needs , Anticipation and fulfillment of each guest’s needs)
-      Immediately resolve guest problem, if room boy doesn’t able ,room boy can call supervisior in charge for helps.

“For Example :
-      A Roomboy cleans/makes the room everyday , and a roomboy completing the guest room equipments, etc
During make up the room , the room boy must ensure that there are no guest’s equipments and needs left behind .


 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES of  SUPERVISIOR

-      Inspecting and Checking the rooms which had been cleaned by  Roomboys
-      fostering , teaching, and leading  The Roomboys or  employees to have good worker
-      inspecting and carry out rooms so that rooms are ready to sell
-      Give order to work for a Roomboy
-      implement to  check on each Room boy’s pantry , roomboy’s cart,  Room boy’s trolley, room boy’s carry cady. when the pantry and trolleys, cart, carry cady  from each roomboy getting mess , supervisior must have any actions
-      ensure that each Room boy ‘s  job runs fine
-      ensure that the Roomboy well being
-      resolve guests complaints , if supervisior  not able to solve guest problems , supervisior can ask manager for  helps

“For Example :
-      The Roomboy has cleaned the room , and the supervisior must ensure about the room cleanliness and about the roomboy’s job
That’s why the supervisior must do double check the room cleaneliness by any inspections , during inspecting and checking the room , suddenly the supervisior found the uncomplete Room standard,the cleanliness standard, and the guest equipment standard
Such as guest amenities , and also there are some rubbishs in the room , therefore the supervisior  ask the room boy to reclean and inform the roomboy about the Roomboy’s job mistake, and also ask the roomboy to recheck the room , reclean properly the room, recomplete the equipments/amenities , and teach the roomboy how to clean the room well.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES of  MANAGER

-      Controlling , inspecting, managing, Watching, Organizing, Guiding, staffing, efforting, leading,   monitoring, planning, maintaining the vision and mission to reach organization’s goals
-      Inspecting and Checking the rooms which had been inspected by Supervisior
-      fostering , teaching, and leading  The Roomboys/employees, and supervisior to be a good worker
-      inspecting the rooms so that rooms are ready to sell
-      Give order to work for a Roomboy, supervisior
-      implement to  check on each Room boy’s pantry , roomboy’s cart,  Room boy’s trolley, room boy’s carry cady, supervisior’s duties, supervisior’s cart, supervisior’s work description, supervisior’s room report, etc… when the pantry and trolleys, cart, carry cady  …..etc ,,,,,,,,getting mess , Manager must have any actions
-      ensure that each Room boy ‘s  job, and Supervisior’s Job running fine
-      ensure that the Roomboy’s and supervisior’s well being
-      resolve guests complaints , if supervisior  not able to solve guest problems , supervisior can ask manager for  helps
-      Creating the schedule
“For Example :
“For VIP Guest”
The Roomboy has cleaned the room , and the supervisior has inspected the room . the manager must have any actions to handle VIP guest , the manager must provide the VIP guest refrences , VIP guest’s special requests , welcoming the VIP guest . then the manager ask for help to Room boy and supervisior to assist manager for finishing , for completing the VIP guest’s refrences , VIP Guest’s special requests. Even the manager may ask the roomboy, supervisior to clean the room properly.

Or The Manager must arrange the schedule every week , when the manager getting busy , a manager can ask the supervisior for finishing the schedule arrangement.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF EXECUTIVE HOUSEKEPEER
-      Controlling , inspecting, managing, Watching, Organizing, Guiding, staffing, efforting, leading, monitoring, planning, maintaining the vision and mission to reach organization’s goals
-      Define the purpose and vision Roomboy, supervisior, managers and companies
-      determine the purpose and direction for roomboy, supervisior, manager
-      Creating a plan to complete the task, including delivery, measurement, time schedule, Roomboy strategy, supervisior, and managers
-      Assign responsibility, guidence, accountability, and delegates to roomboy, supervisior, and managers
-      set the standard, quality, Supervise and maintain Roomboy activity, supervisior, manager.
-      Monitor and maintain employee performance. Review, evaluate, adjust plan, methods and targets.

“For Example :

Skills manager

1. (Conceptional skills)
Upper-level managers (top manager) must have the skills to make the concepts, ideas, and ideas for the betterment of the organization. The idea or ideas and concepts are then to be translated into an action plan to realize the idea or concept that. The process of elaboration of the idea into a concrete plan of work is usually referred to as the planning process or planning. Therefore, conceptual skills are also meruipakan skills to make the plan work.

Case in point: a manager at ABC company held meetings once a month, to correct or review the performance of the company for a month or for job evaluation. Through meetings with the management functions such as planning, organizing, directing, and controlling, can be run. At that meeting all the constraints, progress, planning, and so spoken of in order to achieve common goals.

2. (Humanity skills)
In addition to conceptual capabilities, managers also need to be equipped with the skills to communicate or relate to other people skills, also called human skill. Persuasive communication should always be created by the lead managers to subordinates. With a persuasive communication, friendship, and fatherhood will make employees feel valued and then they will be open to the boss. Communication skills required, both at the level of top management, middle, and bottom.


Case in point: a manager at ABC Company is very well able to communicate with his employees he has the ability to work and understand and motivate other people both individually and group. he have thought that human resources is a very valuable asset. Through the company's competitive advantage they can continue in develop and One day yes invites its employees to develop the existing potential of their own way as outbound training room is one such example.
And maintaining harmony among employees with other employees of its needs in order to keep both a comfortable work environment can be created is also is also the duty of a manager.


3. (Technical skills)
These skills are generally a provision for managers at lower levels. This technical skill is the ability to perform a specific job, such as using computer programs, improve the engine, making chairs, accounting and others.


Case in point: for example, a manager working in a company by the financial supervisory agency because he must be skilled and meticulous in his work. He must have skills how to operate the tools in use to work he must know how the method of accounting and he also must be careful and meticulous quantitative, what his duties what authority. He must have the skills and critical thinking so that he led the company to grow even advanced rapidly than before.



4.( Administrative skills)      
skills related to planning, organizing, set employee and supervision.
This skill seems a lot the forgotten it's because when it became a sales supervisor always delegate this task to the administration. Become A Supervisor requires teterampilan organizing and management so that balance between work orientation and human orientation.

Example snippet of cases: in the company of ABC in order to run the day-to-day duties as an administrative manager in charge of providing information services in the areas of administration to carry out activities in ekfektif and impact on other areas of its smoothness.
